This is an original recipe from Kevin, who I wish would cook more often!
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb Italian sausage
2 tbs olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 large bell pepper, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 (16 oz) can chopped tomatoes, undrained
1 (4 oz) jar mushrooms, drained
1 and 1/2 tbs Italian seasoning
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chili powder
1 cup red wine (optional)
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup Parmesan cheese
1 lb spaghetti noodles
1. Brown meat, drain and set aside.
2. Add oil to pot and saute onion, bell pepper, and garlic until onion is translucent.
3. Add meat and remaining ingredients, stir, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
4. Add cheese and stir well.
5. Cover and simmer additional 10 minutes.
6. Prepare spaghetti according to package directions.
7. Serve sauce over spaghetti.
8. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese
